George Gershwin – Rhapsody In Blue

Got 21 minutes? Do you like Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and think you know it pretty much by heart?
Then go ahead and listen to this. It’s the “Rhapsody” in a version for Jazz Trio and Symphony Orchestra, played by the M. Roberts Trio and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Seiji Ozawa, on the open air stage “Waldbühne”, Berlin (at least that’s what it looks like to me – the French comment at Dailymotion claims it was recorded in France; well …).
The music, the musicians, the listeners all conjure up a peculiar atmosphere of lightheartedness and concentration at the same time which is really enjoyable. If I was in a critical mood, I’d say that a few of the chords just don’t feel right; but I’m not.
